Biography

Kate focuses her practice on real estate transactions and steering development projects through the zoning and land use approvals processes.

Kate’s project entitlement work has resulted in site plan and subdivision approvals, variances, and zoning amendments for a myriad of residential and commercial projects. Kate also advises clients on SEQRA compliance, and coordinates with her clients’ consultants to ensure that the administrative record is complete and defensible. She is also an experienced transactional attorney, having reviewed and cured defects in title, and negotiated and drafted LOIs, contracts of sale, joint venture agreements, MOUs, lease agreements, license agreements, and easements. Kate has represented clients in Article 78 proceedings, as well as appears before Municipal Justice Courts in connection with municipal code violations.

Kate received her Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from Albany Law School of Union University in 2016, where she received the Dean’s Scholarship and served as the Online Journal Editor of the Government Law Review.  During her time at Albany Law, Kate held internships at the New York State Attorney General’s Office in the Environmental Protection Bureau, and with the Honorable Kimberly O’Connor, Acting Supreme Court Justice of the 3rd District.  While in law school, Kate also served as the Student Editor for the New York Environmental Lawyer, a publication of the New York State Bar Association’s Environmental Law Section. Kate also participated in the Pro Bono Scholar’s Program, which allowed her to perform over 250 hours of pro bono work in her last semester of law school. Kate spent this time working with the Legal Aid Society of Northeastern New York, a non-profit organization providing free legal services for low-income residents needing representation for housing issues and other public benefits.

Prior to law school, Kate received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science, magna cum laude, from Iona College in 2013, with minors in Philosophy and Psychology.
