Zarin & Steinmetz attorneys David Cooper and Jaclyn Cohen represented Freestone Renewables in connection with securing site plan approval from the Town of Yorktown Planning Board for a major community solar energy project. The approval allows the construction of a solar farm on a 15-acre portion of the 52.53-acre parcel on Jacob Road. The approved plans include 6,700 ground-mounted solar panels designed to generate 3.125 megawatts of electricity. The plans were revised from the original proposal, reducing the number of solar panels from 8,300 and decreasing the project footprint by approximately four acres.
Z&S represented Freestone throughout the entitlement process. This included appearing before the Town Board while it was considering revisions to Yorktown’s zoning law during a moratorium on solar development, and making sure the adopted amendments would still permit the project to move forward. It also involved processing site plan and special permit applications before the Planning Board. The review process culminated with the Planning Board adopting a negative declaration under SEQRA and issuing the requested approvals on June 8th.
